This picture was made for my ARTS 188-05 class. This is a symbolic image of women voice. Here I wanted to show the flute as a symbol of a women’s voice. I wanted to spread the voice of women through the melody of the flute. My painting has a bond with South Asian Women. I am from Bangladesh, so I tried to portrait a Bangladeshi woman in my picture. In the picture, a woman is playing the flute. The melody of the flute spread all around, which I wanted to convey with sparkles. She has worn a sari. Sari is the national dress of women in Bangladesh. In Bangladesh, men usually play the flute, and women are not commonly seen playing the flute. I wanted to break that tradition through my picture. I used pencil sketch, pen, and watercolors for this picture, and then Photoshop.
